On January 15th, 2016, in Hanoi, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism held a press conference on the activities in 2015 and and implement of duty in 2016. There are about 70 journalists from central and local press agencies taking part in this conference.

At the press conference, Deputy Director of Ha Van Sieu summarized the results of operations of the Vietnam tourism industry in 2015 and key tasks in 2016.

Accordingly, in 2015, Vietnam saw the imprint, positive changes of the tourism industry. Although faced with many difficulties and challenges, the tourism industry has achieved remarkable results such as preventing the decline of international tourists in the first 6 months, recovering the growth, welcoming more 7.94 million international passengers (up 0.9% compared with 2014), serving 57 million domestic tourists and gaining total revenue from tourists reached 337,830 billion VND.

The year 2015 also saw the explosion of the system of technics and facilities for luxurious travel, creating the foundation for welcoming tourists with high spending and long stays to the resort. By 2015, there were 18 850 accommodations with 360,000 rooms, including 94 5-star hotels with 24 996 rooms, 220 4-star hotels with28, 355 rooms and 442 3-star hotels with 30,830 rooms. In particular, many projects of large scale investment of strategic investors in the tourism sector as VinGroup, SunGroup, FLC, Tuan Chau, Muong Thanh… were launched to contribute modern and senior system of technics and facilities in many provinces such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc… to motivate development of local tourism in particular and of the country in general, contributing to growth of international visitors to Vietnam.
