To ensure the sacred, the ceremony of “khai an” is carried out by the celebrant and dignitaries separately in Kinh Thien Palace in Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
Incense offering in Thang Long Imperial Citedal
On February 16th, 2016, Kinh Thien Palace courtyard of Thang Long Imperial Citadel (Hanoi) occurred offering incense ceremony of a new year, in memory of the king and the talented who have contributed to the country.
Incense offering recreated many traditional rituals like the ancient royal ritual, procession with the participation of many teams from Trieu Khuc village (Thanh Xuan), Yen Hoa village (Cau Giay), So Thuong village (Yen So), Van Canh village (Hoai Duc)… From early morning, King palanquin procession was taken by the group of more than 400 people from Doan Mon yard – where king often go through before entering the Kinh Thien Palace accordance with traditional rites.
The first time of “khai an” ceremony in Hanoi
For the first time, “khai an” ceremony was held in Hanoi. To ensure the sacred, the ceremony of “khai an” is carried out by the celebrant and dignitaries separately in Kinh Thien Palace. The meaning of the ceremony comes from the Tran Dynasty, after defeating the Mongol invaders, at Thien Truong, King Tran Thai Tong opened the celebration. Later in the early spring, the Tran dynasty’s Kings opened this ceremony with a wish of a favorable working year of the government.
